MCM Comic Con Dublin 2014 Review

MCM Comic Con Ireland took place on April 12th and 13th 2014 in the RDS Dublin. It was the first time MCM had come to Ireland and judging by the success of the weekend it most certainly won't be the last.

I had been to conventions before but they were mostly based around anime and manga which is fantastic if your a fan of the genre and not so much if your not so I was really excited about MCM Comic Con as it spans across various genres in comics, games, tv shows and movies as well as anime and manga.

The atmosphere as you walked into the RDS was awesome!! As I looked around there were so many traders of such a high standard that I did not know where to go first. There were Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments and big screens everywhere with people playing computer games.

The Wrestling Stars were a big hit with the kids and the standard of cosplay at the event was amazing.

The 501st Ireland Garrison who a Star Wars costume organisation were one of the highlights of the event as fans flocked to have their picture taken with this very talented group of people. The team also made special guest Warwick Davis an honorary memeber of the garrison.

MCM had a fantastic line up of guests which included, Warwick Davis (Star Wars, Willow, An Idiot Abroad) Hannah Spearritt (Primeval, S Club Seven) Colin Ferguson (Eureka) and Lyndie Greenwood (Sleepy Hallow) to name but a few. All the stars were sitting at tables where the fans could go to meet their idols and have their photo taken with them. Such friendly down to earth people who made time for each and every fan.

The convention scene in Ireland is becoming bigger and bigger every year. It gives fans the fantastic opportunity to come out and meet the stars of their favorite tv shows and movies and to dress up and become these fictional characters for the day. It is also a great way to meet new like minded friends. A very impressive first year for MCM and a fantastic day out for the whole family.
