The Package Review

Director: Damon Rickard
Starring: Tom Gordon and Dan Palmer

The personal price a man will pay and what lengths he will go to in order to save his own life.

This is the second short I have reviewed from Damon Rickard and I have to say I am becoming quite the fan. The Package is an excellent short with a Tarantino feel to it. A man has another man tied up and is threatening all kinds of torture if he won't tell him where 'The Package' is. As the viewer you don't know who the good guy is which was Rickard's intention as he stated himself on The Emerald Gore Society Website; 'The Package was born through the idea that as a society we are quick to judge a situation solely from what we see and from that take sides'.

Again this short was excellently cast with brilliant performances by Gordon and Palmer. Rickard has a talent for building tension and suspense and the climax will leave you wanting more. The torture scenes will leave you cringing and believe me when I tell you that you won't bite your nails again after seeing one particular scene.

Film makers start off with shorts to cut their teeth in the movie world, well let me tell you Rickard's teeth are well and truly through and ready for a big steak of a feature film.
